Honey, honey everywhere – at Coconut Hut Beauty and Starbucks too! (Honey: Part 3)

So I was at Starbucks earlier today and noticed a Wildflower Honey Almond Bar. I have not seen it in DC Starbucks – maybe it’s a New York Starbucks exclusive. There were samples out, and it was yummy.

Speaking of honey, my fantabulous Coconut Hut order arrived last week, and (in addition to some full sized summer scents) in it were the 6 honey scent samples I had requested in the scrumptious Big Kahuna butter. Coconut Hut is one of my favorite etailers. It took me a while to figure out which of her products I liked and which scents worked for me. She is really one of the best etailers for tropical and coconut scents, but I also love many of her foody scents. Her TAT and CS are topnotch too. My favorite products as the body butter, the shea cream and the edps. The body washes were my HG shower wash, but now that I am on a cold process soap kick, CH body washes have been dethroned, for a little while at least. Still, I know I will get back to using them when my soap kick end. The CH body washes are really nice, and I also like the CH Hawaiian Whipped Sugar Scrub, but sadly it has parabens in it, so I am trying to move on, to no avail, from that product. It really is a wonderful soft scrub.

The honey samples I received still need to cure, but so far I can tell that the Couvents de Minimes dupe and Oatmeal, Milk and Honey are winners, as is Winnie the Pookha. I was surprised by that last one as it has a cake note in it, and cake notes often go chemical because of my body chemistry. Winnie the Pookha smells like honey mixed with whipped cream – very light and wearable, even in daytime.

Oatmeal, Milk and Honey is very similar to Wylde Ivy’s Honey Bee Good, with all three notes working together. This is a very comforting scent, without being cloying. The CH version is not as fresh as the WI, but otherwise very similar.

The Couvents de Minimes dupe is not as light and fresh as the original, but is a nice complex honey.

I am waiting for the other three scents – Honey Bear, Honey Harvest and Kitten’s Milk – to cure. I had sniffed Kitten’s Milk in an edp sample before, and it was lovely, but the butter sample has a very freshener note in it. I am hoping it will go away with time. I am not totally in love with Honey Bear (L’Occitane dupe, but heavier on the honey) or Honey Harvest (too strong a honey scent to my nose) but also want to see how they turn out when they cure.

Next time I review a honey item, it will likely be my Wylde Ivy edp in Honey Bee Good, which shipped yesterday. Hoping it is as nice as the soap! In terms of future honey acquisitions, I have also been eyeing DistilledRose’s liquid Oatmeal, Honey and Milk wash on her etsy site. I am soon going to be running out of my beloved 100% Pure Honey Vanilla Wash soon. I am really liking how fresh my DistilledRose Oatmeal, Honey and Milk cold process soap bar is , and am curious to try the liquid version at some point. Plus at $3 for 4oz, it is hard to go wrong. DistilledRose really is a lovely little find – great prices, very committed to not using parabens and top notch products.
