Beach and the City — Tropical Drinks edition

Beach in the City – A seasonal feature about bringing the beach to the city even when you can’t take a vacation.

In the spirit of bringing the beach to you if you cannot make it to the beach, I wanted to tell you about two of my favorite summer scents. Both are tropical drinks scents, and both are from Coconut Hut Beauty. Coconut Hut is a great etailer when it comes to beachy, coconut and fruity scents — as well as having spot-on dupes of designer fragrances and a great selection of foody scents.

Coconut Hut has a myriad of tropical drinks scents, including the quintessential Pina Colada. My two favorites are Breaker Beach Smoothie and Blushing Pink Soda Punch. Breaker Beach Smoothie is the more tropical of the two — it’s a blend of strawberry and orange with coconut milk. The sweet coconutty fruitiness of the scent makes me think of sipping the drink on the beach. It layers well with coconut edps, strawberry edps and even other strawberry drinks scents (like Bath and Body Works’ Frozen Daiquiri products — I like the body spray best). I personally like it in the shea cream or the butter, layered with the matching edp, but you can also layer it with strawberry and coconut scents. I often layer Cleanse Your Soul’s emollient in Summer Strawberries with the Breaker Beach Smoothie edp when I want even more strawberry goodness.

I would personally not wear Breaker Beach Smoothie to work — it’s a very rich tropical strawberry. Blushing Pink Soda Punch, on the other hand, is a tart yet creamy strawberry lime lemon soda scent. As much as I like to mix and match when I layer, this scent really works best when using the cream or butter layered with the edp — when I layer two products in that scent together, the tart (and more grown up) part of the scent dominates, with the fruitiness taking a bit of a back seat. I have worn this to work often as I find it light and refreshing without being overwhelmingly fruit-based.

Coconut Hut has many more drinks-based scents, as do Skindecent and MMU. May you bring the beach to the city this summer!

Those two CH scents are fabulous. My tropical fruity faves from CH are Turtle Island Breezer (lime and coconut with a fruity undertone) and of course Polynesian Ruby Pomegranate. đŸ˜€
