Beauty Monday — Indie Spotlight on Jeanne’s Bath Shoppe

I love indie companies. Yes I know, I go to Target and Starbucks, but I can still love and support indie products.

I am also one of those people that believe that a long ugly day can be made at least somewhat better with a good shower or bath and plenty of indulgent (though not expensive) bath and body products.

So it makes sense that one of my ongoing obsessions is indie bath and body etailers. By etailers I am referring to very small companies, usually owned by 1 or 2 individuals, that make handcrafted items, often only available on the internet. Before the internet, such businesses would generally sell at craft fairs and holiday markets, but the internet has allowed them to have a permanent storefront, albeit virtually.

Jeanne’s Bath Shoppe is one of my favorite bath and body indie companies. She has great products and really good customer care. She was closed for the summer, but she is back!! And she’s offering a 15% off discount if you use the code AUGUST (valid until August 31, 2008). Be sure to hit the “recalculate” button after you enter the discount code for the cart to reflect the discount

Jeanne’s Bath Shoppe is paraben-free and carries some lovely natural items, including sugar scrubs, lotions and cold process soaps. If you have never tried the later you are in for a treat.

So if you are thinking of ordering, allow me to tell you what you want to check out on the soap page:

-Oatmeal Milk and Honey soap – if you like a strong honey note, get this!
-Goats Milk and Honey – that one is milder and unscented.
-Soothing Chamomille Soap (pictured above) – perfect for sensitive skin. I use it on my face with no problems
-Vanilla Bean Noel Soap – great caramel vanilla scent (dupe of Bath and Body Works original scent)
-Sugared Shortbread soap – this has a strong brown sugar note which I love.

I like her scrub formula a lot — it’s kind of a whipped oily scrub, and foams a bit, and it’s definitely scrubby. The lotion and butter are both paraben-free and she has an array of yummy scents. Enjoy!

Oh yeah! A fun indie business. It is so important to spread the love and support of our fellow women entrepreneurs. The market is tough right now and they need all of our support.

Thanks for the spreading the love Miss City Girl! You Rock!
