As I mentioned yesterday, I recently discovered Lake Champlain Hot Chocolates. Or, more accurately, I recently discovered their Old World Hot Chocolate and am so pleased with it I fully intend to try the other kinds.
You know that incredibly rich-like-liquid-chocolate-pudding hot chocolate that is somehow not sludgy, and is very hard to recreate at home, no matter how much chocolate you might melt and cocoa powders you might experiment with. And then you sigh and remember the yummy ones you had — likely while traveling in a European country. Or maybe the decent replacement that Starbucks used to provide with the Chantico (what happened to that drink anyways?).
Well, your days of looking for this lovely rich hot chocolate that’s more like dessert than a drink are gone — this is exactly what this hot chocolate tastes like — if you use 7 tablespoons of the chocolate shavings along with 6oz of milk, you get that same richness. And if you don’t use skim milk like I did, you will likely get that pudding-like texture — even with skim milk it totally stuck to the back of a spoon.

Love your ode to hot chocolate. I enjoyed that thick rich drink, Chantico from Starbucks- have no idea where it went!!??
But I must ask if you have totally lost your mind!? Skim mik?? Seriously. Girl, some things in life are just *so* not worth skimping on. Now you go out and buy some FULL FAT MILK and make yourself a proper hot chocolate!!!

Since it has no milk product in it, even those that are lactose intolerant or vegan can enjoy it by making it with soy milk. You said you wanted to seek out some other LCC Hot Chocolates but since you seem to like the rich, dark ones, try the New World Hot Chocolate. At 70% cocoa content, it’s even more chocolatey.

Have you ever tried the William Sonoma hot chocolate? Oh my dear…it is real chunks of chocolate that you melt into warm soy milk…divine!
