Indie Spotlight on Cupcakes in Jars: Candy as well as Cupcakes

by Valerie on January 23, 2009 · 9 comments

I first discovered the Cupcakes in Jars etsy store because, well, we all know just how much I like cupcakes and Etsy and am looking around for new things. What struck me though, in addition to the scrummy cupcakes, was the wide selection of candies, all also made with high quality ingredients.

I ended up getting Peanut Butter Truffles, Vanilla Coconut Bon Bons and Vanilla Cinnamon Marshmallows – they definitely all contributed to making this last Christmas very sweet.

While the Etsy store is only a few months old, Cupcakes in Jars owner Danielle has been making truffles and other confections since she was a teenager. She has a strong commitment to high quality ingredients. The Peanut Butter truffles (see picture above) have that same salty sweet goodness of Reese’s but are exponentially better because of the quality of the ingredients.

If you like anything coconut chocolate, you must also try the Vanilla Coconut Bon Bons. In fact, now that I am writing this, I am seriously considering ordering them again soon. They have a nice amount of delicious coconut, which dominates ever so slightly over the chocolate, whereas the balance is usually reversed in coconut chocolates. And finally, if you are on the same hot chocolate kick that I am on, do get the Vanilla Cinnamon marshmallows — they are pillowy and fluffy and just lovely.
I have promised myself to try out some of the Cupcakes, which are really cakes in a cup – how cute is that? Anyways, I am going to try those very soon – though I think I may wait until Danielle opens her very own website in the next couple of weeks – there will be even more cupcake options than on her etsy site! For more updates on all things related to cupcakes and candy, check out her blog.

Mmm they look lovely. I used to make chocolate another lifetime ago and there’s nothing like the good stuff.
