Cherry Blossoms in Full Bloom and Tim Tams Giveaway Results

by Valerie on March 31, 2009 · 9 comments

It’s that time of the year again here in Washington – the cherry blossoms are blooming and it’s time for the National Cherry Blossom Festival. The famous ones by the tidal basin are what everyone is talking about, but there blossoming trees all over the city, particularly around Dupont Circle. Several of them have been planted by Home Depot/National Cherry Blossom Festival Neighborhood Tree Planting Program in the last couple of years.

This is one of my favorite times of year in Washington – even when I lived in New York and was here only on weekends because my husband was working here, we always planned it so that we would be in town for the cherry blossoms. There is always so much to do and, as long as you go early in the day, walking to the Tidal Basin to see the cherry blossoms is not too crowded an experience.

On other news, I wanted to announce the winner of the Tim Tams Giveaway.

Congratulations to Shannon at All About Me!!!

Shannon, I will be in touch. Thank you to everyone who entered the giveaway – I have enjoyed discovering your blogs and look forward to continuing to read them!

I have many LOL – there’s a Teaism closer to the museums and the cherry blossom festival in addition to the one near Dupont and Tranquilspace. Also, near-ish to Tranquilspace are ACKC, Biagio, Locolat (the liege waffle was scrummy), and a yummy Ethiopian restaurant called Lalibela. If you venture further north into Adams Morgan, I like Meskerem, Cashion’s and Amsterdam Falafel Shop. Oh and check out Tryst, very fun coffee shop, and the Diner next door is fun too.

Restaurant-wise, around Dupont I like Bistro du Coin, Sette, Heritage India (if you go to Heritage, Hello Cupcake is just a few doors down), Pasara, Sakana, Sushi Taro (I think it’s reopened from renovations), Malaysia Kopitiam.
