Birthday Macarons

As part of my husband’s birthday festivities, we stopped by ACKC to pick up some Michel Patisserie macarons. I am SO glad ACKC now sells them.

Aren’t they pretty. The slightly cracked one is chocolate, which was a darker, almost nutty, chocolate flavor. The pale pink is cherry – now I don’t usually like cherry flavored nothing because it reminds me of cough syrup, but Michel Patisserie really pulled this one off well – it’s a light subtle cherry. The green is pistachio, which was nice, but the two homeruns were the passion fruit (the speckled macaron) and the salted caramel. Both were amazing – strong true flavors and just absolutely lovely. The texture of all 5 macarons had a wonderful combination of slightly crunchy, yet delicate and pillowy and almondy. Every birthday should include macarons!

Carolyn – ooh, giant macarons. how fun!!

Rosa – fat and delicious is exactly right :) They’re like happy little pillows :)

Noodlegirl – indeed!

Renaissancetrophywife – the passionfruit is really the standout of the bunch.

Cherrye – sure! Did you have these when you lived in Paris? I wish I had made a point to have them when I was last in Paris (2001) :(

Michelle – yup – he has me AND macarons within a 10 minute walk. Or maybe it’s the other way round? LOL.

Oh, how I wish there was someplace around here to buy macarons! They look so lovely! The last time I had one was when I was in Paris over 2 years ago. I’d make my own, but I’m too scared. Sigh…..

Michelle – I love the colors too :) It seems the cherry one was specifically for cherry blossom time too!

Susan/StickyGooeyCreamyChewy – They are so gorgeous. I am hoping they are the next big thing after cupcakes and become available more
