Amsterdam Falafelshop – Falafel and Fries in Adams Morgan

We all know how much I love Maoz – but until it opens up within, you know, 4 blocks of where I live, I needed an alternative. Fortunately, at some point since I last lived in Washington, Amsterdam Falafelshop opened. Doesn’t this falafel pita look great:

It’s the same concept as Maoz – great falafel and fries, and a huge salad bar of sauces and toppings. Their falafel is more chickpea-y than the more herb-y Maoz approach, but it’s just as delicious. Amsterdam Falafelshop is in Adams Morgan, the neigborhood just north of Dupont Circle. It’s a nice 20 minute walk, with the lovely reward of straight-from-the-fryer falafel waiting at the end. I am particularly fond of the green herb and garlic sauce, which I heap on the falafel, along with yogurt sauce, hummus and cucumbers. The fries are particularly delicious with the garlic cream that is available there. If you are in Washington, DC, it’s definitely worth the trip, and it’s open 7 days a week.

And don’t these fries look great. Yum.

I’d better not show this to my husband. He’d be so jealous! He used to live in DC and always talks about the great variety of foods available there. Come to think of it, I’m kinda jealous too after looking at that fab falafel!

That falafel looks SO good! There’s nothing more I love on mine than some tahini yogurt sauce, and this dish you pictured looks delicious!

Oh my goodness! I lived in DC for 6 months two years ago, and Amsterdam Falafel was one of my favourite places to eat! Although it tended to leave me very full. I still miss it very much.
