500th Post and Answering Reader Questions

Pretty amazingly, this is my 500th post! Wow. That’s a lot of blogging, and so much of it is thanks to you, dear readers.

So in honor of all of your wonderful comments and questions, I am going to answer some reader questions. I am going to follow the same format as I did the last time I answered reader questions where I link to the post that generated the question.

Is there any particular brand of tahini that you prefer? By default, I always end up buying Joyva because that’s what most stores seem to carry (including ethnic grocery stores I went to in New York). I have heard great things about Artisana Tahini, though, and I keep meaning to order that next time I run out of Joyva.

I was wondering what you use as pressed powder … I need something I can have at work for when I arrive hot and sweaty or get oily during the day. And while I love my Shu Uemura, it’s a little pricey to have a spare at the office. I like the Organic Wear Pressed Powder and the Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder. I find they both equally well though the Bobbi Brown is a little heavier while the Organic Wear is sheer. I would go with the Organic Wear in terms of keeping a spare at the office. The brush it comes with, however, is suboptimal, so be sure to have a brush or puff at the office too.

I am way overdue in answering the next three questions – they are from a post in January. Better late than never:

What do you eat when you’re sad/ill/fed up? When I am ill, it’s always been toast. Even now that I avoid wheat, I purchase toast made with rice flour. As for sad or fed up – that has changed a lot since going on a detox diet – it used to be dark chocolate, but now I have switched to things like pasta (made with rice flour) with tomato sauce or pesto.

If you could make ONE otherwise stellar makeup product currently containing parabens into a safe, paraben-free product– what would it be?
High-end tinted moisturizers (Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown), hands down.

What is your favorite way to spend a day? It so depends, but my ideal day off would include quality time with husband, quality time with friends, a yoga class, a nap, lots of walking and exploring around a city, reading, collaging, an art exhibit, and a nice meal. How to fit all of that in one day still mystifies me.

If I were to make an otherwise perfect product paraben-free, it'd be Lancome Blush Subtil. I know we talked about this the other day–I adore Miel Glace and Cedar Rose. I checked the ingredient and the blush has almost every paraben, red lake, and other nasties in addition to carmine. I didn't realize it was *that* bad….so that is on my wish list.

CONGRATS on 500 post!
