Cafe Green Coconut Chocolate Shake

My friend Hilary and I checked out the new Cafe Green this weekend. I love love love Java Green so was really excited to try its new sister restaurant. I had the Coconut Water Cacao shake you see above, which is a tall glass of coconut chocolatey goodness made with coconut water, coconut butter and raw cacao.  It was scrumptious and paired nicely with the raw bread and spreads below.  On the left: a coconut butter and agave spread and on the right, a cashew-based cheese:

The raw bread tasted like soft crackers and was gluten-free and paired well with the spreads.  As someone with a gluten-intolerance and other food intolerances, I really like how the menu clearly labels dishes that are gluten-free, soy-free, and nut-free.  Plus, since Cafe Green is completely vegan, I do not have to worry about my dairy intolerance getting triggered.  Hilary ordered the spinach and avocado salad, which I sampled as well, and it was delicious.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere at Cafe Green. It is a lovely space – both colorful and serene – and the menu is going to keep expanding in the next few weeks as Cafe Green moves beyond its soft opening weeks into being fully open. I can’t wait to go back! Currently the website has the new Cafe Green address up on the right hand side, and the information there is focused on Java Green, so I encourage you to check out the Facebook fan page while the website gets updated.
