Bobbi Brown Fall and Visiting with Diron

Today was just one of those lovely “beauty” days which included a pedicure, eyebrow shaping, some time at Sephora and a visit with Diron at the Bobbi Brown counter at Nordstrom in Pentagon City.

As I mentioned back in August, Diron is a master at makeup and very attuned to tailoring makeup to the individual. Every makeup artist should be like him. The Nordstrom where he works is one of of my favorite retail therapy locations in DC and New York combined (if you have not been, go — it’s well-stocked in all aspects, but somehow manages to remain fairly small and intimate) so I have known him for years. I started buying Bobbi products regularly about 3 years ago, when she brought more color into her line, and that is when I started regularly getting my makeup done by Diron.

Julia of All About the Pretty raved about Diron in her review of last year’s Chocolate Collection. And if you missed last year’s chocolate, this month there is a Best of Chocolate coming out! Diron confirmed that most Limited Edition palettes get repackaged a year or two after their first roll out.

Today Diron tried out Bobbi’s new Moisturizing Cream Compact Foundation on me. As he and I have both noticed, my skin is getting drier with age. I have to say, I really like the foundation. It is very light considering how moisturizing it is, and gave me a beautiful glow. I have to see how well it wears the rest of today, but I think I will be adding it to my list of winter must-haves.

I also got to play with the beautiful Metallics collection. Diron applied the blue one (Midnight Metallics) on me. He combined it with Bobbi’s Cobalt gel liner, and I loved the final result, especially when combined with the Cream Blush Stick in Dusty Mauve. If you are in need of a nighttime look, I highly recommend the Midnight or Forest Metallics. Burnt Sugar is a great shimmery neutral palette. Those three palettes could work on many skintones, but I do think the Velvet Plum palette is hard to pull of. It has a lot of red in it, which makes it hard to wear as eye shadow.

If you live or visit DC, take yourself to see Diron at Pentagon City’s Nordtrom’s Bobbi Brown counter. You will have a ball and come out feeling very pretty!
