Tea Time

I started my new job yesterday. One of the nice things about starting a new job is that you can start all sorts of new good habits.

One of my resolutions was to get into place more relaxing self-nurturing habits. I love a nice mug of tea, but have never been good about keeping a mug at work and having tea regularly — and let’s face it, a paper cup of hot tea is nowhere near as comforting as a nice mug of tea.

Plus, I just have something against nuking hot water to make a cup of tea. Somehow the tea never tastes as good to me when made in a microwave.

I was therefore very happy to see that there is large supply of mugs at my new office (not to mention a dishwasher) and a way to boil water. So I brought in one of my new favorites — Yogi Tea in the Tahitian Vanilla Hazelnut Flavor. It’s decaffeinated and has a nice chai-like flavor (though without the black tea element). In addition to vanilla and hazelnut, the tea contains ginger, cardamom and cinnamon.

Yogi Tea is committed to organic and sustainable sourcing. I am also curious about smaller indie tea retailers like Teaman and SBS Teas. I am taking recommendations so:

What are your favorite teas?

I like Tea for All Reasons on Etsy. Her blends are delicious. I have tried several Indie tea shops and also LOVE SBS Teas, although I haven’t ordered since its previous owner sold it–the FAIRY TALE TISANE is quite possibly the best tea on earth.

Tea Man on Etsy is very, very good tea in individual bags. The vanilla is very soothing.

I’ve tried others, but these are my favorites!

Hi City Girl. I found your blog on Pink Heels. I love what you are doing on your blog. My favorite teas include Yogi’s ginger tea. I also like TZAO Zen tea. Like you I was trained as a lawyer and have been living a yogini, artist, writer, creative lifestyle for awhile.

Karley — I think I will be ordering the vanilla tea from Tea Man soon!

Ananda — thank you for the welcome. Teaism is truly a lovely place — I lived in DC (went to law school here as well actually) before I moved to NYC, and that was a regular stop for me.
