Maoz Coming to Washington, DC

If you follow me on twitter, you may have seen my excited tweet last Saturday about seeing a Maoz storefront on M Street in Washington. I was half asleep and it was early in the morning but the sign was unmistakable. Some quick research shows that this Spring may see an opening, and that the entrepreneur behind the franchise, Quinn Wallis, had been searching for a location for a year. He discovered Maoz while studying in Spain, where the Dutch chain has an outpost.

As it happens, Maoz already has stores in New York and Philadelphia – the one in Union Square was one of my favorites when I had about 10 minutes for a meal and was in Union Square but had no time to venture futher East to some of my favorites around Second Avenue or Avenue B. The falafel is delicious and crunch and garlicky, and the salad bar of toppings is lovely too and of course there’s great fries, which I love with yogurt sauce. I really hope the DC location opens soon. That will give me one less thing to miss about New York!
