Next Food Network Star

I have said before I am a little addicted to the Food Network, and come this time of year, I always tune in to the Next Food Network Star – this is the third year I have watched it from the beginning of the season, and husband and I really get into the show now. What’s really odd about it is that we don’t watch reality television, or much television in general. We spend most of the show discussing the rankings at the end and predicting the judges’ comments and rankings. Tonight’s premiere was no exception.

I don’t know how many of you out there watched the show, but here are my thoughts:

* Interesting that the first challenge was a group challenge. I do think it makes sense in terms of bringing out the best and worst in people.

* Very impressed that Jeffrey was able to win the challenge despite not having several of his key ingredients. I did point out to husband that finding achiote at the Tribeca Whole Foods would likely have been a fail – as beautiful and well-stocked as that Whole Foods is, it never had all the spices I needed.

* Loved loved loved Michael’s “global a-go-go…. from Bed-Stuy to Bangkok” intro.

* I loved how Melissa got the apple tarts dead-on – to the point that Duff-cake-master commented her dough was right.

Did you watch the show?
