Pink Raspberry Cheer

So after a weekend of napping, it’s Sunday night and I am still sick. My husband has tried a lot to cheer me up and get me on the road to recovery, including spicy Thai food and yummy cupcakes from Firehook Bakery in Washington. I actually prefer Firehook to Magnolia Bakery in New York (I know, blasphemy for someone living in New York to have her cupcakes when she is in Washington – tough there are other cupcakes in NYC I really like). That said, I think it is time for me to go visit a doctor — there is only so much over the counter medicine a girl can take. And despite taking all my own tips, one can only be sick so long before it starts showing in your skin.

One beauty-related thing that did cheer me up was seeing the Bobbi Brown Pink Raspberry Spring Collection. For one, Bobbi has taken a very vibrant shade and made it completely wearable. But most importantly the palette does not have the color Bone as the base eyeshadow. I (and many many beauty mavens) find Bone unwearable — it’s just too chalky, and I am very pale and supposedly should like Bone. Instead the palette uses Navajo eye shadow, which was the base color in the Bobbi Stonewashed Neutrals palette. I found Navajo more wearable than Bone or Vanilla, which I find a tad too yellow. Navajo is the best of both worlds. I am hoping this means that Bobbi will use it in more palettes in the future!

Note: I wrote this post well before I switched to a gluten-free near-vegan diet, so have no idea if the cupcakeries mentioned in this post have gluten-free and allergy-friendly options.

If raspberry looked good on a brunette goddess, I would be the first in line to buy it!
