Beauty Monday — Bobbi Brown Metallic Shadows

Beauty Monday will be a weekly feature focusing on green beauty, paraben-free skincare, makeup, and the beauty industry and marketing.

Bobbi Brown is one of my top three cosmetics brand. That’s saying a lot considering I wrote a beauty blog for year and use many different brands before, during and after writing the beauty blog. But, along with Stila and Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown is one of the only three brands that I can honestly say has everything I need if I had to use just one brand. Fortunately I don’t have to pick. Over a year ago, I wrote that this would be my year of Bobbi Brown. And it has been — she has consistently put out high quality products, all the while moving away from the too basic — don’t get me wrong, neutrals are great and I wear them daily, but I only got into Bobbi Brown colors cosmetics when they started being more richly pigmented and having just that little extra oomph to the neutrals.

Bobbi Brown is really hitting several homeruns this year. I have loved her new eyeshadow singles, released late last year and earlier this year. She’s released both matte and shimmerwash shadows. And as of this week, she’s also released her metallics as eyeshadow singles. You may remember the metallic palettes from last year – these are the same colors that you can now put in mix and match palettes. The metallics are incredibly richly pigmented shimmery eyeshadows. Depending on the color and applied with a judicious hand they can be absolutely work appropriate while enhancing your eyes immeasurably.

As I mentioned before, these metallic shadows have the same wonderful buttery heavily pigmented textures of Stila and Shu shadows. I am loving that Bobbi has moved away from the very basic Bone/Vanilla/Wheat/Chocolate mattes she used to focus on and has branched out. The colors in the metallics collection are absolutely stunning. One of the most versatile and universally flattering shades is the Brown Stone metallic shadow, which is lovely dark taupe that would be beautiful overlaying a simple base with a liner like Chocolate or Graphite shimmer. I also really like Forest and Midnight – if you are going to buy blue and green eyeshadows, these are beautiful and very wearable.

And speaking of green, these shadows are paraben-free.
