ACKC Cocoa Gallery – All Things Chocolate

by Valerie on January 19, 2009 · 4 comments

So my latest favorite place in DC is ACKC Cocoa Gallery on 14th street – it’s part chocolate shop, part cafe, part gallery – and all around very cozy and delicious. Instead of the chocolate and cocoa hues I expected when I walked in, the decor is bright and based in primary colors, but somehow it works.

And the hot chocolates are scrumptious. So far I have had the Audrey, which is super dark rich hot chocolate – I had it on my way to the retreat I went to and blogged about yesterday – and today I took a break from working and went back and tried the Rita Hayworth, which is semi-sweet chocolate with clove, orange and caramel. Both absolutely delicious.

In addition to hot chocolates and espresso drinks, the cafe has cupcakes from Couture Cupcakes, which is another one of the newer cupcake places in the area, and many baked goods.

It also seems that ACKC also has chocolate making and tasting classes every month – I will have to check that out. Next time I need to give a gift of chocolate, I will definitely pick from their vast display of truffles and chocolate bars, many made in-house. And if you are not in DC, do check out their online store. Picture from Washingtonian.

Are they accepting new tenants? I want to move in. : ) Can I request a tub filled with chocolate that I can bathe in?

LOL — it’s totally that decadent kind of place. I do love how there are beautiful art pieces displayed all over the space, and the cafe is just lovely, plus you can shop. It’s like everything one needs in one place. They even have some chocolate-inspired bath products :)

The Curator – of course! :) When are you next going to be in DC?

Pink Heels – I know you are planning a visit in Spring – maybe we should go to the Cocoa Gallery instead of Teaism LOL :)
