ALL YOU Magazine

It’s no secret how much I heart Real Simple, but let’s face it, I love many many magazines. That’s why I was really happy to be contacted by some great people over at Time Inc. (publisher of Real Simple) who wanted to tell me about ALL YOU magazine, I was surprised I had not yet come across it. My issue arrived in the mail just a few days later.

Turns out ALL YOU is this awesome super practical magazine that focuses on really affordable solutions when you are looking for value. You know how some magazines show you how you wish life could be – well, this one is more of a reflection of the everyday, but easier and with more tips.

Two stories in the April issue really appealed to me – one was “How to Make Clothes Last Longer” – I don’t know about you, but I am incredibly hard on my clothes, and any tips on making them last longer (especially suits for work) is very welcome. Plus, the longer my clothes last, the better for the environment as, let’s face it, when you wear through work clothes, you can’t exactly do much with them. The second story is “How to Go Green and Save Money at Home” – talk about a win-win situation – some of the tips are very new to me, like throwing a green cleaning party, where you gather friends together to mix environmentally friendly cleaning products and then split up your work, or how to resurface nonstick cookware.

I was really impressed with this magazine – and also by one of the things their PR Director told me – one of the unique elements of ALL YOU is that the brand holds an ongoing dialogue between readers and editors, and that ALL YOU has over 20,000 “Reality Checkers” who have opted into their panel to share their views, opinions and ideas with ALL YOU editors. How cool is that! ALL YOU does have a unique distribution model – it’s either available by subscription or at Wal-Mart – so if, like me, you don’t get to go to Wal-Mart often, definitely look into subscribing.
