* I love macarons, but I am a little (fine, very) disturbed that there are now macarons at McDonald’s in France, even if they do have a Laduree connection

* Ivy of Kopiaste gives a great primer on Greek and Cypriot cheeses

* I love Maki’s review of Julie and Julia on her Just Hungry site

* I was delighted to read this Washington Post story about the woman behind two of the farmers markets in Washington, DC

*Adventures in Shaw has a lovely baba ghanoush recipe up – it is similar to how I make baba ghanoush. I can’t wait to try it

* I am always on the lookout for an inexpensive knife sharpener. I may actually try the one the Amateur Gourmet recommends, as I have seen it recommended by other food bloggers as well

Quick question: I am also on the market for knives- any good but not too expensive brand you would recommend? (Mostly for slicing and chopping veggies)

Lavanya – unfortunately I have no recommendations. Our knives were pricey but have lasted for years (my Global chefs knife is going on 10 years now).

The Global Chef's Knife looks great. I'll keep that in mind for later. Thanks!

I love Ivy's posts – she always gives such rich information! Many of these others sound fascinating as well. Er… but the McD's thing is, yeah, disturbing.
