{What Does Balance and Wellness Mean to You?} On Irony

by Valerie on November 12, 2009 · 2 comments

So the fact that I decided to start writing a balance and wellness series during what turned out to be one of my highest billable months at work is not lost on me.  Especially the part where October was just as busy as September.

I do not want to give up on the series just yet, but I have to tell you, whenever I have time to think about balance and wellness, I kind of want to take nap, or get a pedicure, or  make a smoothie.  Actually, the last one is not true. I think of wellness whenever I make a smoothie, because while I find it motivating to eat 6-7 cups of kale and/or spinach in one smoothie, I kind of need to focus on the wellness bit for the last few sips.

The point, I had a point – right, yes – is that I am still thinking what I want to do with this series.  I had originally envisioned it as a nice theme for guest bloggers, but, let’s face it, everyone is just so busy this fall, that I actually have not been approaching potential guest bloggers lately.  Photo credit: D Sharon Pruitt / CC BY 2.0

So what do you all want to see? And do you have any topics you are particularly interested in?

I'd be interested in reading about mental balance and how to take care of your body in ways that benefit your mind (like sleep). Looking forward to the series!

I've been thinking about this balance concept all day. It is something that challenges me all the time with work life, writing life, and healthy person life. But the balance that is most elusive to me is how to balance the way that family is locked in to seeing us versus who we really are. If you could just clear that up, it would be fabulous!!!

By the way, I tried your kabocha squash recipe tonight and it was fantastic. I'll be adding a little less cayenne pepper next time (wow was the level of spicy a surprise, but a good one). But now I feel all daring and adventurous for adding 1/2 teaspoon! Thanks for posting the link to the recipe!
