So Sunday was actually this blog’s three-year blogiversary. And had I been a good blogger, I would have set up a post to publish that morning to tell you how wonderful all of you are, and I am so so so glad you have kept reading, despite the fact that this blog’s identity has shifted so many times. That would have been the ideal approach, but I had friends visiting the previous couple of days, and went to the Japanese festival on Saturday, and I left it until Sunday.
Of course, Sunday morning means a visit to the Dupont Market, which I very rarely miss (I probably go 48-50 weeks a year or so, even when it snows). And spring had finally arrived at the market, because I got promptly distracted by these beautiful lilacs which one market vendor had brought.
By the way, speaking of lilacs, you must check out Coco Yogini’s blog – she has some beautiful lilac pictures up. See, I told you I am easily distracted by Spring, but yes, at the Dupont Market, I also saw ramps:
And asparagus, which was also terribly exciting:
And then there were errands to be run, which were that much more pleasant considering all the pretty-ness surrounding Dupont Circle these days:
Which is all to say, I got terribly distracted by spring and its loveliness, which you might remember I was sorely needing just a few weeks ago. In the late afternoon, as I was going home before heading out to a yoga workshop, I got further distracted by a very unusual sight.
Swing dancing at Dupont Circle:
Ever since I lived in New York, I have always complained that people in Washington, DC are just never out and about enough, and quirky unique things never happen. I get awfully whiny about Washington at times, but really, I just miss how real and eclectic New York felt to me. I was so glad to feel the same way on Sunday when witnessing such fun in Dupont Circle.
People were having a wonderful time, so I lingered watching.
Then I had to run to this yoga workshop called Yoga and Anxiety. It is really fascinating. I had been wanting to go to such a workshop for a long time, and a four part series on the topic is happening this month at Flow, and it actually fit into my schedule, so I jumped on the opportunity.
I got distracted by other things on Sunday night, and then yesterday was, well, Monday, so here I am, a couple of days late, saying thank you so much for reading this blog. And yes, you may have noticed I changed the name of the blog. I wanted something more descriptive of my life now, you know? I have not changed the feedburner feed, so everyone should be getting the subscription still, but to be honest, I would love love love it if you could subscribe to the new feed please. I like the idea of a new start for Spring – and thank you so so so much for continuing to read despite all the changes and the lack of a cool banner up top (I have a bit of a complex by the lack of a customized blog header). That was supposed to be a project for the third year blogiversary too, but I will get to it – maybe in the summer when spring has finished distracting me.
Oh, and all the pictures are from my blackberry camera, so apologies for some fuzziness. And before I forget, I decided to drop the City Girl moniker for a variety of reasons and use my actual first name, Valerie.

Yay, VALERIE, a coming out for your anniversary! 🙂 Congrats!!
You should try swing. Nothing like laughing that much to get rid of anxiety. And there is no "no laughing" in swing.
And by the way, I was SO GREEN with envy over the Japanese festival. I drooled over the photos.

Happy blog anniversay Valerie. Your blog looks awesome and enjoyed reading your post. Sorry I haven't been visiting lately but after some health problems I decided not to overstress my self and made it a rule when somebody visits, to visit back and don't stress up trying to catch up with everything.
Happy anniversary, Valerie. I love the pictures in this post. They are bursting with life. Look forward to keep reading you.

Happy 3rd blog birthday Valerie! You know when I started blogging I used a nickname too, but then finally came out and used my real name. It's refreshing isn't it 🙂
I can practically smell those lilacs. I love Spring!
Happy Blogiversary! I love the new look. Very spring, indeed. I love reading the blog you are so creative and love the pictures of DC. It makes me feel like I need to get out and do more. Hopefully, we will be heading to the Farmer's Market more now that we have been. It's so nice there.
