How cool is that? A super-tall gluten-free (and dairy-free) cake! I just got home a little while ago from the Gluten-Free Labeling Summit 2011 (aka 1in133) organized by Jules Shepard and John Forberger, and I was so impressed at how big 1in133 got – not just the cake, though of course that was quite impressive – but also the exposure that gluten-free labeling received as a result. Also, it was such a pleasure to meet many people, include Jules and John. Here is Jules, working on cake assembly:
More cake assembly:
Some of you may recognize a couple more familiar faces in addition to Jules. Here they are:
There are Linda of Gluten-Free Homemaker and Brittany of Real Sustenance! I had emailed with Brittany yesterday when I realized she would be in town for the event, and was super excited to meet her, but had not realized Linda would be there too, so meeting her really great too. I have gotten to know both of them through their blogs and it really was so nice to meet them in person – they were both so sweet and kind. If you have not yet checked out Linda’s Gluten-Free Wednesday event, or Brittany’s Seasonal Sunday, please do so, whether you follow a gluten-free diet or not. Both events are such great resources and occur weekly. And don’t miss the archives of Brittany’s recent April in the Raw event,
I came away from the event feeling very inspired by the goals of the event, but also by every single person I met there. Thank you so much to Jules and John and everyone there for putting on such a great event.

It was great meeting you, Valerie! I'm glad you were able to make it to the summit. I never thought of taking pictures from the balcony. That was a good idea.
Really great photos, Valerie! It's so cool to "see" you. Linda and Brittany are both delights. I've had the pleasure of meeting both in person before.
I sooo appreciate you guys being there representing us all and doing the hard work!
